We were favoured with beautiful weather for the Easter holidays, and had a large number of visitors, some of whom wore very much astonished at the number of buildings that have spmng up lately. The regatta held on Easter Monday was not quite a success, owing to there being very little wind. The shooting match between the employes in Ward and Co.’s and Waddel’s grain sheds was won by the latter. The p.s. Awarua continues to be ■well patronised by excursionists to Stewart Island, and there is no doubt that the tourist traffic to that part of the world will assume large proportions ere long, when the attractions of the island become better known. The monthly meeting of the Harbour Board will be held on Tuesday. Extensive additions are being made to the Ocean Beach freezing works, where a regular township is springing up. Some day doubtless our borough may extend from the port to Greonhills. More unlocked for things have happened.
