“HIS LUCKY DAY.”
Begin aid Denny returns to the Maoriland Theatre on Wednesday lit “His Lucky Day.’’ He thought it was his lucky day, but his girl left him, he almost lost his job, lie was atacked by gangsters and accused of being a thief. Ills adventures provide another big laugh feast that should not be missed.
“PICCADILLY” ON FRIDAY. An outstanding British, film will be screened on Friday. It is “Piccadilly,” certainly the most ambitious film produced in England. The glimpses of Piccadilly Circus at night, the gaiety of the night club, the cleverly selected types, and the Limehouse scenes are fascinating. The story of how Valentine -Wilmot, owner of London’s most exclusive night club, takes a little Chinese girl from his scullery to become his principal dancer and the dramatic and tragic result is told clearly and with many deft touches. Anna , Ma’y Wong, as the scull cry-maid dancer, and Jameson Thomas, as Wilmot, score the acting successes of the film. Anna May Wong is simple and appealing, and rises to the occasion splendidly in her big scene when Mabel (Giida Gray) comes to her to plead for her lover.
