JUBILEE MEETING AT FEILDING.

Goods Fields for Opening Day.

The Acceptances Reviewed.

(By “Silken Rein.”)

Racing will be held at Feilding to-morrow (Saturday) and Monday, when the Feilding Jockey Club s Jubilee meeting will take place. Excellent acceptances have-been received for the opening day and the indications are. that the fixture will be a highly successful one.

The principal race to-morrow is the Feilding Jubilee Cup (Handicap), which has drawn a field that would do credit to any metropolitan club. The winning owner will receive, in addition to the stake money, a gold cup valued at £lO5, presented by Mr C. F. Johnson, “The Pines,” Feilding, who has also given gold replicas of the cup to be presented to the trainer and rider of the winning horse. In the event, of the winner being trained by the owner, the replica will go to the owner of the second horse. Also on to-morrow’s programme is the 24th Feilding Stakes, a weight-for-age race with penalties and allowances. The first race is timed to start at 11.30 a.m. Waituna 'Hurdles. Proceedings commence with the hurdles which has a field of ten and the best in the estimation of the handicapper is Elysianor who has been allotted the steadier of 11.9. His form on the flat, however, has been consistent, and despite the poundage he look's likely to be in the money.' The local-bred Horo* mea is on the 10.5 mark with Novar, Beaumont and Vivo, and which will prove the best of the quartette it is difficult to say. The mare’s performances in the jumping season, were good, but recent racing is in favour of Novar. Atereria has little form to recommend him, but Hard Gold, on Levin and Otaki running, should have a say when it comes to distributing the prize. Bed Bank ran a fair race among the hacks at Levin and back again at his trade is likely to be prominent for the major part of the race. Delude upset his rider, when promising to be in the money on the first day at Otaki, but he will have to show a big improvement on his last run, to' have a winning chance. On the day the public will probably show a preference for —

Kowhai Hack,

Hard Gold Elysianor. Aorangi Trial Plate. There is, very little recent form among the maiden performers in this event, the best' perhaps being that of False Scent, who ran second co Eaglet in the Avondale Guineas, and third previously to Eaglet and Admiral Drake in the Wanganui Guineas. That form entitled him to much respect, but two who may measure up to him are Pedestal and Pari. The latter ran a particularly good race at Levin, being left by several lengths at the barrier and got up in time to collect third money. Of the others, Lady Gen, Black Aero and Yalma read best with a preference for the latter. The pair, however, with the recommendations are—

Pari Falsa Scent. Feilding Jubilee. Cup. ■ ■ * The principal handicap at the fixture has drawn an exceptionally large field and it is undoubtedly an open race. Star Stranger, Vertigern and Bright Glow are a good trio, but they have not the recent form to recommend that Panther and Rabbi have. The latter pair were winners at the Riccarton Cup meeting, and in the concluding race Panther beat' Rabbi by a neck with the advantage of Gibs. At even weights the .latter Should turn the tables. The Hawk has - demonstrated that he is by no means a back number and the racing he has had at Levin and Otaki will considerably benefit him and with his light impost must be respected. Piuthair, Talisker, Merry Mint and Shrewd are recent winners, while Spcarmiss and Blimp have minor placings to recomment them. The form of Spcarmiss at Riccarton was good and she will have to be kept on the right side from now on. One of the dangerous ones on the minimum mark is Shrewd and lie will only need a little luck on his .side to win. The winner is well concealed, but Shrewd appeals as next best to—

Rabbi The Hawk. Feilding Stakes. This classic race for sprinters is an event which evokes considerable public interest and this year’s fields contains some speedy animals. Paganelli is brilliant and from the word go he is usually well up with the leaders. Ability to begin is the necessary factor in a race of this class and in that respect Paganelli is the reliable one. Cimabue can run out a fast six but at even weights does not appeal as much as the former. Ceremony recorded good time in the race he won at Randwick, but many would prefer to have seen him have another gallop before this event. First Money and Aspiring are possibilities, but the two-year-old Princess Betty, on the face of her easy win at Riccarton, is likely to be troublesome. There is no doubt about her speed. Post positions will probably influence, the betting to some extent, but the favourites at present are— Paganelli Ceremony.

There is a good deal of form among the runners due tc contest this even, and among them is the dividend-payer at Levin, Goldlike. There did not appear to be any fluke about his win, but the distance on this occasion may affect him. Masher, Make-up, Chopin and Metullus are the ones which will be sorted out from the results of the local meetings and of these Make Up appeals as best, despite the fact that he was backed and beaten at Levin. With a 121 b reduction on his Otaki handicap Metellus will be hard to- beat. Singer is a useful sort, while Fine Acre is likely to improve a good deal on the display" he made at Levin. Belying on form the public‘will probably shovv a preference for— Metellus Make Up.

Flying Handicap. There are twelve runners listed to compete in this race, but four have earlier engagements. Silver Paper has not lived up to the reputation given him last season, and he may be passed oyer in favour of Goshawk. On his running at Otaki the latter will probably be elected favourite. First Money, if started in this - event, will be sought after and on the face of his recent good showings lie will be a hard one to beat. Arrow- Lad is engaged in the principal race, but will, no doubt, prefer this engagement. Biecarton form points strongly to him.winning, while Gold Cure and Aspiring have fairly good recommendations from the same fixture. Banket has the best recent credentials of the others. In the possible absence of First Money, the pair selected is— Goshawk Arrow Lad.

Fitzroy Hack. With' eighteen runners from which to make their, selection, the task of the punter will be no easy one. Clarendon is expected, to do better at this fixture, but ho is up against a good lot. Sylvan Dell has met with fair success in open company, while the form of Just So, Marien,, Limosin, Warzone, Patearoa and Kale Britannia at the local meetings, entitle them to some consideration. The maiden performer, Paiko, may be the surprise. The pair which appeal as likely winners are — Limosin Just So. Kiwitea Handicap. x'he concluding race, has a comfortable field with Otairi top weight, lib better tliqn King Midas. The latter ran a good race on the concluding day at Biecarton for a second and he should be nearly ready by now. Arikinui and Melissa have, their Otaki form to recommend them and as both are fairly reliable and now at the top of their form, they will have to be respected. Break o’ Day and Juggle are best fancied of the others. For the recovery dividend, speculators may show a preference for— Arikinui. Melissa.
