FALL'S FALL.
A YEAR IN PRISON. U.S.A. OIL SCANDAL. (“Sun” Special.) WASHINGTON, Friday. Eight years after lie accepted a bribe of * £20,000 in those oily days .of the Teapot Dome, Albert Fall, the former Secretary of the Interior, has been sentenced to a year in prison, and has been fined tho exact amount of the bribe. On November 20th, 1921, Edward Doheny’s son, who is now dead, brought the Secretary of the Interior a satchel filled with new bank-bills. Within a few months Dolieny’s company obtained leases valued at £21,000,000 from Fall’s department. Sick and “flat broke,” with a sheriff in possession of his famous New Mexico ranch, Fall was wheeled into court to hear sentence from Justice Hitz.
Early in the New Year Dolieny will face his trial for bribery. The mil lionaire oil man called it a loan to an old friend.
