LAURA LA PLANTE IN ‘SCANDAL’ Scandal has wrecked more lives than sin. Innocence has always paid tribute to sophistication. Such arc two truths brought to throbbing life on the screen in “Scandal,” an absorbing drama of a beautiful girl who became enmeshed in social intrigue which plunged her into the midst of a murder mystery that scandalised even the most sophisticated! “Scandal” will be screened in Shannon on Wednesday night. In this film a string of beautiful polo ponies, each worth a small fortune, are used in the big match which forms one of the climaxes of the picture. And much of the other wealth is represented by a group of millionaire residents of Santa Barbara, who appear as “extras” at the polo games, and other society pastime scenes.

Friday. The story of “Moulin Rogue,” which is exceptionally unusual in its plot, deals with a young couple, who visit the “Moulin Rouge,” where the girl’s mother is the star. The young man, struck by the overwhelming beauty of his prospective mother-in-law, immediately falls in love with her, she, too, being attracted but loyally puts her daughter’s happiness first. Following a terrible car smash, in which the girl is seriously injured, the mother returns to the stage, and the young couple prepare for their honeymoon on the girl’s recovery. Fc-athered as the girl in this production, is Eve Gray, the beautiful Australian actress, who will be remembered for wanning a beauty contest in Sydney a few years ago. Olga Tsehceliowa, who plays Miss Gray’s mother, is a continental actress, famous for her magnificent work on both stage and screen. The part of the fiancee is excellently portrayed by Joan Bradin.
