HEIGHTS ROAD EXTENSION.

PLANS FOR FORMATION TO BE PREPARED.

Speaking at the County Council meeting on Saturday, with reference to the grant from the Public .Works Department of £4O for the Heights Road, Cr Catley said that steps should be taken to have it expended. Just at the tor of the hill there was part of a road going tihrough Mr Law's property The settlers could not use what was the legalised road, because thare were two or three watercourses which they could not cross. 'As the Council had to spend public money, it would be necessary to have a survey, and plans approved by the Department, before anything was done. He asked if the" Engineer could state what was the unex ponded on the Heights Road The Engineer stated that th'iro woulc not be less than £3O left.

Cr. Catley moved that the Engineer be instructed to have plans and speci fications prepaied as to the ' cost ol forming the piece of road under con sideration. He stated that the job would not be a costly one; the distancewas probably ten to twelve chains, and it was easy going. The formation could be done in less than a week. In answer to a suggestion by the Engineer, Cr. Catley stated that he would be pleased to accompany him on r< trip of inspection.
