FIVE CLUBS TO COMPETE IN CRICKET ROUNDS.
REVIVAL OF THE GAME IN SHANNON. ' Since the annual meeting of th* Horowhenua 'Cricket Association), at which provision was made for a seaeon's competition between four clubsLevin, Weraroa, Otaki and Paraparaumu—advice has been received of the resuscitation of the game in Shannon, with the formation of a club which is desirous of entering into the contest. In consequence the management commitee was held last night t* recast the fixtures.
The suspension of club cricket in Shannon, owing to unavoidable circumstances, goes back to the end of the 1926-27 season. That was a healthy season for the Association, and rather a bright one for Shannon, who were the runners-lip for the Hall Shield. Eight teams were in the competition that summer —namely, Foxton A and B, Shannon, and Phoenix (constituting the northern division), Levin, Weraroa, Otaki and Paraparaumu (southern division). Shannon held the honours for their territory, and were defeated in the final by Werarcsu
