COUNTY COUNCIL MAKES GRANT TO BOARD. SUM OF £5, SUBJECT TO ANNUAL REVIEW. As a result of the recent application by the Levin Fire Board to the Horowhenua County Council for assistance towards the cost of righting fires which occur just outside the Borough boundary, the Works Committee made the following recommendation t,o the Council on Saturday:—"That the sum of £o 5s per annum be granted to the Levin Fire Board for the supply of the necessary appliances and labour for the purpose of extinguishing fires adjaeent to the Levin Fire Board district. That thi3 grant be subject to annual review by the Council." Cr. Bryant asked if this was a riding matter, and the Chairman (Mr G. A. Monk) replied in the affirmative. The reoommendation was -adopted without discussion, but Cr. Catley voted against it. <
