THE BRITISH LABOUR GOVERNMENT.
(To the Editor). Sir, —We, in these remote isles of the sea, must in unison with all the great countries of Europe and America stand in admiration of Mr Ramsay MacDonald's masterly grasp of matters of foreign policy, and his wonderful advancement of the prospects of a world peace. In the short nine months of his previous Prime Ministership, he induced France -and Germany (those aimost implacable enemies) to join hands, a feat which made all the world wonder. In the short time that his Government has recently held the reins, he has ended the' foolish policy which ground Egypt beneath a military heel, and caused hatred of Britain, revolt, and bloodsheort. He has given her instead, the ham! of friendship, and made her a useful ally. He is strengthening the bleud-bond between ourselves and our American cousins, and is convincing the world that no alliance will be an aggressive one or inimical to any country, but arranged with a view to helpfulness to the welfare of all. Surely, future history will hail him' as not only the greatest statesman of his time, but also the greatest benefactor of the world.—l am, etc., SPECTATOR.
