A large gathering of friends from Palmerston North, Shannon, Levin and district were present and the Makerua School-house would not hold all who attended. The school was nicely decorated with greenery, red, white and lue streamers and coloured lanterns, all helping to make the place pretty. The evening was devoted to dancing and singing. Durig an interval Mi- Albert Judd presented Mr and Mrs Dalzell with valuable gold watches, Mrs Dalzell's being a wristlet oneMr Dalzell also received a valuable

double curb gold chain. Mr Judd referring to the departure of the Dalzell family, said the residents would miss them very much. They had proved themselves good sports, Mr Dalzell having always interested himself in all kinds of sport,

especially football; while his sons, Leslie and Norman, had represented Manawhenua and Manawatu, while Colin and Dick played Rugby for the local school, and Norman had been their boxing representative. Mr Dalzell in replying, said that he was sorry to leave so many good friends
