“SORRY, BUT-”
FOREIGN ’PLANE BEST. (“Sun” Special). LONDON, August 19. In view of the fact that the Southern Cross is being reconstructed by the Fokker Company in Holland, interest attaches to the remarks of Captain c.Barnard, who, speaking at the Bristol civic welcome to the Duchess of Bedford, with whom he flew to India and back in 71 days, said, “Our crowning regret of the trip, was that we couldnot possibly use a British aeroplane, and had to buy this Fokker aeroplane. I am sorry to confess that there is not a machine built in Britain that could have done the flight.”
