“WOLVES or THE CITY.” tKffe, • •- '/" - William Cody, versatile screen star, will be seen at the Maorilaiul theatre on Wednesday in “Wolves of the City, ’ * a Universal thrill feature. It is $n exciting melodrama of the underworld . Cody enacts the role of a young millionaire who is bored with living and is ready for anything that will offer excitement. His desire for anything to break the monotony leads him to answer a newspaper advertisement dropped by a beautiful girl whom he has rescued from a run-away horse. His answering the advertisement results in his getting into a series of thrilling adventures with a gang of art thieves. Cody is admirably supported by a well chosen cast headed by Sally Blaine, one of the most popular of the younger actresses in Hollywood.
“POPPIES OF FLANDERS.” Although the atmosphere and locale of “Poppies of PlanderS7“ the British International picture to be screened on Friday, is fhat of the war, director Arthur Maude has treated this touchy subject so delightfully, that the many who are over-weary of the continual war-picture fare, will find a freshness in this production that will not only delight, by the strength of its drama and comedy relief, but will give an entirely new aspect of a subject that has been grossly abused. The picture broke upon the screen practically unheralded, and when the final fade-out is reached, it will be voted excellent entertainment, it is well cast, superbly acted, magnificently staged, and* the photography, for a British production, is a revelation.
