WIROKINO ROAD.

FLOOD BLOCKAGES. The frequent traffic blockages that takes place on Wirokino Eoad through flooding were referred to at the last meeting of the Manawatu County Council, • wlien a letter was received from 1 the Foxtoh Chamber of Commerce forwarding a copy of a letter it had sent to the chairman of the Main Highways Board, bringing under his notice the urgent* necessity for keeping open the Wirokino Eoad, and stating that, if this piece of roadway were raised three feet, it would obviate the necessity of making a wide detour that is at present proposed. "We can't deal with this in any way until we get a reply from the Highways Board," stated the chairman (Cr. Barber). "This is rather a sore point with - Foxton, but we can't_ help it. It is the natural drainage point for that part of the district, and the floods are no fault of ours," the speaker added. No discussion was forthcoming and the letter was received.
