SCENE IN THE COMMONS.

Mr Jack Jones (Labour) and Lady Astor (Conn.) participated in a scene in the House of Commons to-night, arising from a whispered conversation by Lady Astor to two adjacent members, while Mr Jones was speaking. Suddenly, loking directly at Lady Astor, Mr Jones exclaimed: “I anrnot drunk. When you use that word.- you are a dirty liar.” • •"
Lady Astor: “I didn’t'say it. : The Deputy-Speaker ' checked r . Mr Jones, but' Lady Astor repeated ; her denial, which the Labour member "con-: tradicted. The Deputy-Speaker said , that he would be glad if Laity. Astor ■ would keep, quiet. She had iiiteiwupted again and again. ... 1 Mr Jones declared that he would not stand it much longer. '.She always talked under her breath about drunkenness when he *was speaking. “I tell her to her teeth that I am.-a better man drunk than she is sober. ” \ , v After further exchanges, Mr Kedward, a former clergyman, protested.
