Inheriting an adventurous spirit from her father, she dressed herself as a man and ran away to sea, signing on a ship bound for Alaska as a stoker. After adventures in rum-running, she eventually found herself pcnnilness as Casper, Wyoming. Borrowing a revolver from a friend, she entered a shop in this '■own,'held up the proprietor, and ap. preprinted his day’s takings, amount ng to £l6. The shopkeeper, however, rushed out by the back door, hurried lowp an alley, and captured the girl bandit at a street corner.
“I am tired of being a man,’’ she said after the Court had passed sentence on her. “When I get out I am going to buy myself a whole trunkful of nice undies and live my life all over again as a woman.”
