SUNSHINE YELLOW FOR BABIES
All the so-called “sunshine’’ yellows, including canary, lime, primrose, and daffodil, are the popular juvenile coi ourings of the monu U. . This is said to be the result of the choice of these shades for the summer wardrobe, of the little British Princess Elizabeth, who may be called the leader of baby fashions. The juveni'c speciality shops, both in London and Baris, as well as the departments for such goods in the large department stores, have temporarily at least put aside the usual displays of pink and bine and arc featuring yellow, either for entire garments or in combination. Kovel little outdoor ensembles arc shown in these golden shades, with white pique collar and cuffs embroidered in several tones of yellow and a white straw" bonnet, carrying out the same design and colourings. , " Sturdy little linen suits for boys are in deep orange colour with a stitched line cap to match. On such suits there is a note of contrast given by the rise of pale yellow bone buttons or those of white pearl sewed on with heavy yellow linen thread. Yellow organdy, georgette and cotton voile arc favoured for little girls ’ dressy frocks, these being usually in plain colouring,- with trimming of a contrasting shade. Fo. more ordinary dresses are the allove. designs of yellow on a white bad ground and orange and black on pak primrose.
Yellow, as a .fashionable baby colour, not only influences little folks' clothes but has temporarily eclipsed blue and pink for nursery use and decorations. There is an increasing demand for furnishings for the popular all-yellow nursery, and children's painted furniture, tableware and bath accessories are now to bo found in this fashionable hue. Where an entire nursery cannot consistently be refurnished to meet this new demand, it is surprising how great a change can be worked by introducing at least some of these sunshine colourings, as they blend delightfully Avith all the favourite flower tones, especially ,delicateS blues and pinks. Thrifty mothers arc also getting excellent results from dyeing white curtains, spreads, sheetings and other nursery furnishings to the desired shades of yellow, several tones often being combined most effectively.
