HOME DYERS
The following simple rules will be of service to tihqse who are “homedyers’’:— 1. The article must be absolutely clean, and it is therefore important to wash it before dyeing. 2. It must be bleached if it is to be dyed a paler shade, or if unevenly faded and to be paler. 3. The material to be dyed should be weighed, so that the correct amount of dye may be used. It is' obviously foolish to imagine that the amount sufficient to dye one yard of thin silk is the same as required for one yard of thick woollen material. 4. The articles must be wet when placed in the dye solution, otherwise uneven results will probably be obtained.
5. The utmost care is required to see that the dye is completely dissolved before use, and to ensure this it is advisable to strain through muslin. 6. Needless to say, the particular directions supplied with the dye must be strictly followed if satisfactory results are to be obtained.
7. Thorough rinsing after dyeing in several changes of water until no more jdye runs out is essential.
