RUGBY TRIAL TEAMS.
MANAWHENUA PREPARING FOR RANFURLY SHIELD MATCH.
Prior to Manawhenua’s Ranfurly Shield game against Wairarapa on August 17, a trial game will be played at Palmerston North on August 14, at the conclusion of which the' selectors will make their final choice of the fifteen to represent the combined union in its challenge for the shield. The two trial fifteens will be as under: — A TEAM. Full back: M. Johnson (H.) Three-quarters: Strange (M.), Fletcher (M.), Page (M.). Five-eighths: Bevan (H.), Riddell (M.). ' Half: W. Parata (H.). Rover: T. Parata (H.). Hookers: Crawford (M.), Boldt (M.). Lock: Parsons (M.). Supports: Tatana (IL), Conrad (M.). Back row: Miles (M.), Dalzell (H.). B TEAM. Full back: S. Bramwell (M.). Three-quarters: Walker (M.), N. Bramwell (M.), Taylor (H.). Five-eighths: Stevenson (II.), Ormond (M.). Half: Thompson (M.). Rover: M. Waldin (M.). Hookers: Preston (M.), M. Hight (M.). Lock: Satherley (H.). Supports: Dalzell (M.), C. Hight (M.).‘ Back row: Hanna (H.), Neild (M.). No emergencies have been selected for either team but any players unable to turn out are asked to notify the secretary (Mr C. D. Fraser) immediately.
