WEDDING CALLED OFF
THE ELEVENTH HOUE. INDEFINITE POSTPONEMENT. Cancellation of a wedding almost at the last moment caused surprise at St. Margaret's, Westminster, a few weeks ago. Guests were actually assembling in the church when an official informed them that the marriage would not takeplace that day. A telegram cancelling the arrangements had been received at the church.
The parties to the- ceremony would have been Captain Percy Wallace, of Berkeley square, .and Miss Elyse King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. King, of Bournemouth. Their engagement wan announced on January 5, and on March 28 the date and place of the wedding were announced.
A statement that the marriage would take place was published on the morn big of the day appointed. Captain Wallace and Miss King visited the church on the day before the wedding day, accompanied by two little girls, A clergyman' also turned up, and :i rehearsal of the ceremony was held. The wedding reception, which was to have been held at a Piccadilly hotel, was cancelled within an hour "or two of the rehearsal. A hundred guests had been invited. Even the bcllringers arrived for the service at St. Margaret's, the choir had been instructed to attend, and orders had been placed with florists.
Miss King's sister stated: "My sister's wedding has been postponed indefinitely." Captain Wallace, who is the son of the late Mr. E. J. Wallace and Mrs. Wallace, of Glen Urquhart, Invernessshire, left London for the country on th» day following that fixed for the wedding.
