LEVIN DAIRY CO. SUPPLIERS VOTE £IOO TO EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND. A handsome addition to the Mayor’s fund for the relief of the earthquake sufferers will be made as the result of action taken at the annual meeting of the Levin Dairy Company’s suppliers on Wednesday. The Chairman of Directors (Mr. S. A. Broadbelt) introduced the subject, saying that, as this district had experienced a reasonable season, he thought the suppliers should take into consideration the position on the West Coast and vote a sum towards the relief of sufferers through the earthquake. Mr. W. H. Becher supported the Chairman’s remarks, and moved that £SO be voted to the relief fund.
Mr. J. F. Gay moved that the grant be £IOO. Mr Becher acquiesced, and the motion was seconded by Mr Alex. McDonald.
The Chairman said it gave him very much pleasure to put to the meeting a resolution of this nature, and he was glad that the position was considered so favourably. , The motion was carried unanimously and it was decided that the money b# •paid into v the Mayor’s fund.
