Painful scenes attended the removal recently in Los Angeles of Miss Anna L’ubens (wife of Kicardo Cortez), the well-known film actress, to the . city psychopathic w r ard b.y deputy shcriffc, who were summoned by her mother, who said her daughter had attacked a nurse and threatened suicide. Armed with a butcher’s knife, the unfortunate actress, who was a nervous wreck as a result of taking drugs, appeared on the verandah of her home and threatened to stab the sheriffs if they approached, and they had to hide in bushes until they could surprise and overpower her. She attempted to escape on the way ti. the hospital, but was immediately strapped up and,rendered powerless.
