WEDDING BELLS.
PRITCHARD—BUTT. A wedding of much local interest was celebrated on Wednesday, July 10, at Ven. Bede’s Church, when Mollie, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Butt (Mayor and Mayoress of Shannon), was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Clarence Arthur, eldest son of Mrs I. Pritchard and the late Mr Pritchard, of Ohingaiti. The Rev. J. C. Abbott, late vicar of Shannon, and now of St. Peter’s, Terrace End, was the officiating clergyman, and Mrs F. Taylor, L.A.8.. presided at the organ. The Ven. Bede’s Church, which had been prettily decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride, was filled to overflowing with guests and onlookers. The bride, who entered the Church on the arm of her father, to the strains of the wedding hymn, ‘ ‘ The Voice That Breathed O’er Eden,” looked very winsome in a lovely gown of ivory satin made with long sleeves and ankle length, Venetian lace forming a back, panel, the long lace vestee in front being finished at the . waist with a spray of orange blossom and diamante buckle; a. spray and buckle being also used on each shoulder, and with silver . shoes and stockings a pretty embroidered veil and wreath of orange buds and blossoms completed a dainty toilette. Her bouquet comprised cyclamen, narcissi, white heather and maiden hair fern, with palest pink streamers. She also carried a lucky white satin horse shoe. The bride’s attendants were her two cousins Joan and Irma Finnerty, whose pretty frocks _ were of rose pink crepe de chine, with 'silver lace hems and shoulder posies, both wearing hair bands of rose pink. Little Moira Finnerty, as flower girl, looked very dainty in a frilled frock of powder blue crepe de chine. She also wore a pretty hair band of brilliants. The two bridesmaids carried posy bouquets and the flower girl a basket of violets, all of which weie made and presented by Mrs Ilallam. Mr Dave Fizgerald attended the bridegroom as best man. After the ceremony the bridal party and guests numbering between seventy and eighty adjourned to the Parish Hall, where the reception and breakfast was held. Mrs Butt received her guests wearing a frock of black crepe inargaret and georgette relieved with coffee-coloured lace and black hat with diamante ornaments. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Pritchard, wore navy blue crepe de chine, with black and gold hat. A sumptuous breakfast was partaken of, the usual toasts being honoured. A feature of the decorations was the huge wedding bell suspended above the bridal couple. Later on Mr and Mrs Butt entertained a large number of friends at their residence in Minnie Street. The wedding presents, which were numerous and costly, including several cheques, were on view and were much admired. Mr and Mrs Pritchard left by the afternoon train, on- route for the South, the bride travelling in a smart tailored costume of rose beige, with close fitting felt hat en suit. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a handsome opal ring and to the bridesmaids wristlet, watches, the flower girl receiving a gold cross pendant.
