WINNER’S FAST FLYING LONDON". July G. In the King's Cup air race, Lieut. Atcherly in a Glostcr Grebe was flrst Lieut. Richardson in a Moth, second, and Captain Hope m a Gipsy Moth, third.
The finish of the race provided an unexpected thrill for the thousands uniting for the finish. Two machines appeared in the offing racing neck and neck, one of .which was presumably Captain Stack who led throughout, but Stack had been forced down owing to engine trouble. 1
The oncoming rivals were Atchcrlcy and Richardson. The former took the lend a mile from home and won by a hundred yards. Five minutes covered the first four.
Atcherly averaged 150.3 miles an hour. The next best was Fielder in a Glostcr Grebe, 143.3 miles. Richardson with an average of 100.2 miles won the Siddelev trophy for light planes. Miss Spooner in a Gipsy Moth was placed fifth and headed the women competitors. Mrs. Butler and Lady Bailey, both in Gipsy Moth coupes, also finished.
Captain Stack, despite his forced landing cmne in sixth.
