SHANNON BRIDGE.

NO OFFICIAL OPENING. At Monday's meeting of the Manawatu County Council notice was received from the Shannon Borough Council to the effect that it had been informed that the County Council was assuming control of the new bridge over the Manawatu River at Shannon, and asking what steps had been taken to have an official opening of the bridge. "I'don't think we -want .any official opening," slid Cr. Perrett, Ihe chairuian . (Cr. Barber) stated that the Horowhenua County Council had turned down a similar request. He did not think that any opening was re-qui-ed. The bridge h.id ocen for traffic for the last six months and a function was not necesiary.

It was decided to inform the Shannon Brough Council to this effect.
