CHILDREN’S PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS PARTY.

» ; A PLEASANT EVENING. Despite threatening weather conditions and minor counter attractions, the attendance at the -Children’s Plain and Fancy Dress Party on Tuesday last was immensely gratifying to those who had worked so hard and indcfatiguably for the success of the evening. A pleasant surprise also was the number of children who appeared in fancy dress. ; So effectively were the various characters carried out that it was indeed a difficult- proposition for the judges, Mrs Robinson (Maugaore) and Mrs Gettins (Levin). As one.of there Ladies remarked, ‘Tliey .aie ail so pretty I wish I could give each one a prize.” However, the decisions-gave general satisfaction and to those two ladies the committee tender their warmest thanks. PRIZE LIST. The prize list; was as follows: • Under s Years'.—Girl, Vakyie Young, “Rainbow Fairy”; Boy, Brian M'oynihan, “Dr. Moyriihan.” Over 8 Years. —Girl, Joan Bovis, * ‘ Ilawaiieen Maiden ’’; Boy, Harry Warmun, “Tramp.” '' - Most original. —Girl, Jean Taylor, “Sewing Bag”: Boy, Phil Coyle, “The All Black.” Judge’s Special \ Award. —Girl, Ray Richardson, “Bride”; Bov, Bill Ellwood, “Why Did I Kiss That Girl.” Special Prize for mother present with most children jii fancy dress.— Awarded to Mrs A,. K. Saxon, four children. Prize donated, by Messrs Clarke Bros. Levin. The hall was very tastefully decorated and with the many colours worm by giifls and boys, the scene was a gay one. Mr Bovis and Mr P. Cole acted as M.G.’s, ably assisted by Mr Croliquest with song and story. Delightful music was supplied by Mrs Butler assisted by Mr Mason which added greatly, to the enjoyment of the evening. The jjommittee wish to thank all those who donated prizes for the children, also the mothers and others who provided supper, thus assisting greatly the Shannon Girl Guide movement for which funds are so essential. THE FANCY DRESSES!.
