The “shortest days’* are four —Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday of next week; on the first, three of these the sun will rise at 7.33 a.m. and set at 4,29 p.m., and on Saturday its hours will be from 7.34 to 4.30, but on Friday the day will be a minute longer, the hours of rising and setting being 7.30 and 4.30 respectively. On July 6th, when the hour of rising is 7.33, the sun will set at 4.36. The equinox will be September 20th, the sun’s journey lasting from 5.53 a.m. to 5.54 p.m.
