JUNIORS. SHANNON v. WERAROA. Tire above teams met on the Shannon Domain on Saturday, and after a fairly interesting game Shannon Avon by 28 points to 8. The first score came through the Shannon forwards dribbling over the line, enabling MeEwen to score. No goal resulted. McEw.an again got possession and, passing to Saxon, the latter sent the ball on to Newman who went OA'er. Again the kick rvas unsuccessful. Shan non 6, Weraroa nil. ■ Later MeEwen gave the ball to Holden, avlio kicked over the line, compelling Weraroa to force. Tiro Red. forwards returned to the attack, Ngatuna being prominent. Later Guy dribbled th,rcfU|gh the Werarda team and, picking up, scored under the posts, Mason converting. Shannon 11, Weraroa 0.

Weraroa next forced Shannon. A passing bout between MeEwen, B. Holden, and Mason ended in the latter scoring. Guy was unsuccessful Avith the kick. Shannon 14, Weraroa nil. Birchall, with two line kicks, gained ground for the Reds, and then MeEv/en secured and, cutting in, beat two opponents and then kicked over the full back. Weraroa had to force. A good Red forward rush headed by Jude, Lee and Guy, was carried on by durian who scored, Mason . converting. Shannon 19, Weraroa 0. Soon after a penalty 1o Weraroa enabled Taylor to goal. Shannon 19, Weraroa 3.

Guy next had an unsuccessful shot at. goal from a penalty. Weraroa by good play took the ball to Shannon’s line, eliding in Ilcbson scoring, Taylor converting. Shannon 19, Weraroa 8. After • the interval Lee and then Robbie led charges against Weraroa, after which Mabey who was playing a good game, did some fine line-kicking, gaining much ground and saving, his forwards. A forward rush by Batt, Jude and Guy resulted in The latter scoring. There was no goal. Shannon 22, Weraroa 8.

Saxon next kicked to the Weraroa full back, who, on being collared by .Birehall, hung on, for which his team •was penalised, Mason failed with the kick. The last named played then essayed to pot a goal from the field. Weraroa were forced again. Newman made several good dashes for the line and on ofie occasion h.c beat several men, only to be brought down by the full-back. Then Saxon, taking a good pass from Holden, sent the ball on to Newman, who scored at the corner. No goal resulted. Shannon 25, Weraroa 8.

The final score was started by Birchall, who replaced McEwer. at halfback, the latter receiving an injury. He sent out a good pass to Saxon, the ball travelling to Holden, Mason and Mabey. The latter kicked, and Guy following it up, scored his third try, the match ending: Shannon 28, Weraroa 8.

THIRD GRADE. WERAROA v. FOXTON. The above match was played on the Weraroa Recreation Ground in the presence of about one hundred people. The game, although one-sided, was quite an -attractive one from a spectator’s point of view. A noticeable feature was tli c good spirit in which the contest was fought. Weraroa, with the wind behind them, kicked off, play going to Foxton’s.-5. From a line-out. Weraroa secured, and a fine passing rush, in which every back handled, ended with Bishop going over in the corner. The kick at goal failed. Weraroa' 3, Foxtor. ml. From the kick-off Weraroa rushed play to Fcxton’s twenlyffiye, where, after a series of scrums, another nne passing bout by' the Weraroa backs ended in Bishop handing to Graham, who scored wide out. Store concerted with a beautiful kick. Weraroa 8, Foxtor. nil.

After play had been in progress a few minutes, Store, from a mark, kic-k-

ed a splendid goal. Weraroa 11, Foxton nil.

It was Foxton’s turn now, ana after kicking off they swept dorvn the field to Weraroa’s twenty-five, where NeAVson, the Foxton'winger, secured and ran down the line to score a good try. The kick failed. Half time sounded shortly afterwards with 'the scores: Weraroa 11, Foxton 3. After the kick-off, Weraroa pressed and the forwards started a passing rush, ending Avith Bignal scoring. Weraroa 14, Foxton 3. It was al! Weraroa now, and from a scramble near the lino Dentun scored. Weraroa 37, Foxton 3. The next sc ire came from a dribbling i usli, when Bat email secured and fell over the line. The angle was too hard for Score. Weraroa 20, Foxton 3. .

The Whites came at it again, and from a melee in the Yellows' twentyfive Roberts picked up and ran over in the corner. Higgs’s kick missed. Weraroa 23, Foxton 3. The next score came from a scramble on the line, where two Weraroa player/ fell on the ball. The kick at goal again failed. Weraroa 26, Foxton 3.

'The tit-bit of the day was a passing msh when nearly every White forward handled! stfncl Gallo Wa|y, side-shopping two Yclloaa' players, dropped a neat goal. Time eras called soon after, with the scores reading: Weraroa 30, Foxton 3. Mr H. Pene carried the whistle.
