SHANNON’S EXPERIENCE.

A seveie and prolonged earthquake accompanied by a loud rumbling was experienced in Shannon yesterday morning at 10.18 a.m. The shake lasted some seconds and appeared to be from north to south. The tremor caused quite a lot of consternation, many complaining afterwards of a feeling of sickness owing to the swaying. Fortunately there was not the usual jolt jit the end, otherwise, no doubt, considerable damage would have been done; as for some time afterwards, winddhvis and hanging lamps Continued to rattle, and swing while at- the Shannon Meat Co’s shop a side of mutton continued to swing for one and a half hours. From enquiries made no damage was reported.
