On Saturday afternoon the members of the Shannon Golf Club me: the members of the Manawatu Club at the Hokowhitu Links in the first of. the in-ter-cluo matches, and were defeated by 10 games to 4. The Shannon team were hospitably entertained, and a mos: enjoyable afternoon's sport was indulged in. Results (Manawatu players mentioned first): — Winks beat Goodwin. Colonel Whyte lost to A. Saxon. Spear beat Morgan. Stevenson beat C. Stern. Chapman lost to McKenzie. Spencer beat Jones. I-lay beat King. McGillvray lost to D. Saxon. Louisson beat 11. Saxon. Grant lost to Campbell. Ongley beat Gagliardi. Swinbourne beat 11. Stern. . Priest beat Stevenson. Members of the Shannon Club artreminded that the June medal match will be played next Saturday and ladder matches may be played at the same time.
LADIES’ PLAY.
LEVIN-MANAWATU MATCH A DRAW. The golf match played at Palmerston yesterday, between the Levin: and Manawatu ladies’ teams, had rather a curious result, eleven games being played for a draw. This was brought about by Levin winning live games and Manawatu five, the other being halved. Following ' are the particulars, Levin being mentioned first in each case: — Mrs Sievers won from Miss E.
