EXTENDING POWER RETICUTION.
HEAVIER CABLES TO MEET GROWTH OF LOAD. The report presented to the Horowhenua Power Board, on Tuesday, by the engineer (Mr. J. A. Smith) on work done since the last meeting (held on May Ist) stated: — Thirty new service lines have been erected, extra phases run on nine existing services and three temporary services ' have been erected. Nineteen poles have been carted* out, fitted an«l erected, and 599 chains of L.T. wire run out.
The L.T. on Mako Mako Road West was completed and put into service. Extensions of L.T. have been made at Poroutawhao, Arapaepae Road, Paraparaumu Valley Road, Eaumati Beach, and Paraparaumu Township. To cope with the growth of load, heavier cables have been run on Kawiu Road East, Queenswood Road, Arapaepae Road, and Paraparaumu Beach.
A temporary sub-station has been erected at Muhunoa East and the necessary L.T. lines run to serve the County crusher. L.T. and service lines on a portion of Arapaepae Road were overhauled. Poles were de-sapped at ground line and treated with preservative. The transformer at Bell's mill sub, Tokomaru, 50 K.V.A. was changed to a 25 K.V.A. General maintenance and street lamp renewals have been attended to. The report was adopted.
