The old West of hard-riding and quick-sliooting coAAffioys, sagebrush and , endless rolling hills, returns to the , Maoriland Theatre on Wednesday Avith Universal’s recent picture, “The Tayo Outlaws,” starring Rex, the King of Wild Horses. Rex is a marvellous animal and he really astounds one with his almost human intelligence. There has never been another animal in motion pictures that may be compared ’ Avith him iu acting ability and iu thrilling exploits. Jack Perrin, in a dual role, proves that he is rapidly becoming one of the leaving i Western heroes. Kathleen Collins, as the feminine lead,, also .] does some clever acting, and, what’s more, looks very beautiful on the screen.
“BEAU SABREUR.” On Thursday and Friday, P. C. Wren’s thrilling sequel ‘to “Beau Geste” will be screened in Shannon. The picture is fraught with great ' scenes — lioav else could such villains as Noah Beery, William Powell and Mit- , . ehell LeAvis have such poiv.erful roles? Picture the attack on the French gar- ; rison, just a handful of men against a thousand—a handful of men wiped put and the hero escaping with two girls to the desert, that his mission for France be fulfilled! 1 Picture the dramatic scene Avhere ths Sheikh El Hamel demands that the Avornen be turned over to him as subsidy if France Avould have a treaty Avith him! Picture the charge on the J Great Oasis, Avith five persons battling five thousand! The dynamite mines planted in the sands! The slaying of. the desert Wolves Avith modern warfare methods! Never has a picture before been packed Avith so many melodramatic moments! The entire story is one of romantic appeal. He rescues her from drowning and also from, the bloodthirsty ‘ t tribesmen. .She ultimately succeeds in a mission for Frahcd Avhere he has failed.
