BUCKLEY DRAINAGE BOARD.

A meeting of the Buckley Drainage Board was held at Shannon on Fri-/ day, Mr R. W. Taylor presiding. A letter was received from the Horowlienua County Council stating that the Council has resolved to subsidise the work of cleaning and improving the Koputroa stream on the Tavistock road for approximately 20 chains, the subsidy not to exceed £2O.- —The offer was accepted with thanks.

Mr W. A. Speirs wrote offering to repair recent flood damage by erecting a new stop bank abou 13 chains long on his property and to receive payment for same when the Board has money available. Mr F. Bryant and Mrs W. Richardson wrote drawing the Board’s attention to the state of the stopbank adjoining their properties, pointing out that an erosion has set in, the stop bank being half in the water. —It was resolved to get Mr Hay, the engineer, to inspect the damage and prepare a report and estimate of the work. The . District Engineer wrote that owing to urgent work cropping up in connection with the Palmerston North deviation, he was unable to keep his appointment to inspect flood damage, but would do so at the first opportunity.
