MAORILAND THEATRE.
HOOT GIBSON IN “THE DANGER RIDE.” The showman’s ideal of a picture thatwill “click" through every scene has been reached in “The Danger Rider,’’ Universal attraction with the popular Hoot Gibson in the starring role. The film opens at the Maoriland Theatre on Wednesday. The picture is fuuniest in which the star has appeared. Added to his capabilities as a purveyor of thrilling amusement, Hoot seems to have found himself -as a comedian. He romps through the story scattering action and fun on all sides.
“The Danger Ride” is laid on a ranch for ex-convicts run by Mollie, a preity girl with charitable intentions. The ranch is supposed to give occupation to poor, rundown ex-criminals who can’t- find work in other places. Hoot, the son of the prison warden, falls in love with the girl when he happens to see her picture. He goes to the farm posing as a notorious crook.
HAROLD LLOYD IN “SPEEDY."
Why is Harold Lloyd the idol of youth all over the world? They like him in England, France, Japan, Australia, Chile, Alaska, and other far corners of the world, as well as :n the United States. In the words of wellknown cinema observers, the answer is, “Because Harold Lloyd comedies are always morally clean. Any parent can take his or her child to a theatre when one of Harold’s comedies is announced, and be sure that the child will not see anything which might tend to corrupt its morals!" they continue. Lloyd’s latest picture is headed for the Maoriland Theatre arriving on Friday. It is entitled, “Speedy,’’ and it has to do with a youth who is so baseball crazy, he is unable to hold a job anywhere. However, when the crisis arises, Harold masterfully handles the situation, and rises to the occasion with merit. Ann Christy is Harold’s new leading lady, and a bright future is predicted for the star that appears in the latest Paramount release. The picture was produced by the Harold Lloyd Corporation.
