Hyde, who is acting f< Mr Bryant in the matter states thi if the Government decline to take ov the property, sub-oivision will still 1 carried; out, six Isecttions having a ready been disposed of subject to tl Government rejecting Ihe propert •The importance of this sub-division ' Shannon is great, as it will not only 1 the means of settling about fourte< families who are anxious to take v land, buti will assist to build up tl town and make it possible for i people to derive benefits that in tl past have been impossible. If tl Manawatu-Oroua River Board are su cessful in their effort to, have the modified scheme of flood control ca ried out, still further land close t Shannon will be available for settl ment. A deputation of representativt of several local bodies will wait 0 the Premier and Ministers within tl next week or two in* support of tli scheme. Mr Hyde has\ been appointc to represent, the boroughs interests Shannonites will watch the out-core with keen interest.
