GOLF NOTES.

On Saturday .afternoon, a match was held between teams selected by tho President and Hlie Captain. The weather war perfect, and a splendid 'afternoon \s sport was enjoyed ; 'oy all • hose present. As part of the '.'ourse is still unplayable, only three holes were used, (the first, second and ninth).. The match resulted in a. win for the President's team by 4 jfames to 2. The match was played as a foursome. Results: Blackwood; (President) and Goodwin, lost to Jones (Captain) and Morgan, A. Saxon and MeKenzie beat C. Stern and .King, 11. Stern and H. Saxon beat D. Saxon and Ostler, Cronquest and Pedtrson beat Miss East on au'd Franks, Misses &ixoii and Camp lost to Mrs, Cronquest and Miss Goodwin, Mrs .Moyriihan and Miss Pederson' beat Mrs H. ■Easton and Miss Dillon. SURPRISE PARTY.

On Friday evening, the membors of the Shannon Golf Club raided Messrs Stern Bros.' house at Buckley as an appreciation of the excellent work done,by the brothers for .the Golf Club: Over 50 people were present <iad .a most enjoyabde evening was spent in games and competitions. During the evening Mr A. Blackwood, president of the Golf Club, proposed the toast of Messrs C. and E. Stern, praising the work which they had done for the club.. Mr C. Stern replied. Mr A. Morgan proposed The health of the Easton family, another family who- had done a lot of work.

Mr H. Clifford-Jones, captain of the j club, proposed the toast of golf, and j the final toast of the ladies was \-\ the .. capable hands of Mr C. Cronquest. Not content with proposing the toast in humorous vein, he replied still more •humorously on behalf of the w?akersex.

Among those present, were: —Mrs H. Stern (Whakarongo), Mr and Mrs Stern, ,senr., Miss "Goodwill and Mr Good>vin (Kingston Road), Miss Tur vev (Woodville), Mr and Mrs Pederseri and family (Moutoa), Mr and Mrs Saxon and family, Mr and Mrs Me Kenzie, Mr and Mrs Morgan, Mr., Mrs and Miss Blackwood, Mr aiid Mrs 11. Easton, Mrs C. and Miss Nancy Easton, Mr and Mr* C. C. Franks, Mr and Mrs CHfford-Joncs, Miss Camp.
