Late in winter a grand sight is sometimes presented on the east, when the snowmantled peaks of the Tararuas are lit up with the full glory of the descending sun. ■ ' . . The greens are in excellent condition, but the? fairways are adversely affected for golfers by the abnormal growth of gf&ss that has f this year. In the absence of a fairway mower, which is beyond the means of the smaller clubs, the committee have •done the best they could to put the course in order, using an ordinary mowing machine Nine holes are available in the meantime, and the committee are gradually getting the rest of the ■course into suitable form, it being expected that a further five holes will be .available in a week or so.
