"KED HOT SPEED.” The trials and tribulations of a young assistant district attorney who is conducting a campaign against speeders, only to fall in love Avith a chronic offender, a beautiful and wealthy girl, is the plot of “Red Hot Speed,” the hilariously, funny Universal comedy to be screened' on Wednesday in Shannon. Reginald Denny, star of the production portrays the role of the harassed district attorney, while beautiful Alice Day, one of the 1928 Wampas Stars, appears as the chronic girl speeder. The picture is one of the best the popular star has made for some time. Moving rapidly and Avith dozens of screamingly funny situations, “Red Hot Speed” provokes continuous gales of ■laughter from the audiences during its shoAving. .

“THE ROMANCE OF HINEMOA.”

Coming to the Shannon Theatre on Friday, is the New Zealand special, “Hinemoa.” At a special screening given to both houses of Parliament Her Excellency, Lady Fergusson, Avas present. Surprise and delight wire expressed on all sides at the genuine beauty, and lavish production of the picture'. The east is purely Maori, and they act as if they had been before the camera all their lives. Their Avork is dignified, and free of self-con-sciousness. The beauty of form of 'the 'Maori maidens is also wonderful. The “Referee” says: “ ‘ Hinemop ’ is yet another triumph of the exploitation of the Empire’s resources for film arti —ohe that puts trashy insincerities to shame, whether from Hollywood or from any where else. It links {together the poetry, romance and-legandry of all nations.”
