THE FIELD'S EXPRESS.
ALTERATION OF TIME-TABLE SUGGESTED.
The Railway Department, as the result of requests th:i; the timetable of the Field'V express, which now leaves Wellington at' 5.40 p.m.. and reaches Shannon, at 9 p.m., be altered to leave Wellington nt 4.15 p.m. and arrive at Shannon at -7.50, requested the local stationmastcr, Mr Todd, to call a meeting of Shannon busires3 men to ascertain from them their views on the suggested change. As a result a meeting was held on Tuesday morning which was attended by over 20 business peorde. After Mr Todd had explained the sugge3ted alteration it was unanimously resolved that the change was not' suitable to Shannon and that the present timetable be adhered to. It was also recommended that, if the Department decide tc make the change, arrangements be made for the Limited express, which passes through Shannon at 9.30 p.m., to stop. All the speakers pointed out that if the train left Wellington at 4.15 p.m., it would make the tame toe shorWor transacting business. The meeting v.-as of the opinion that, the Fudd express, both up and down, could be speeded up, as too much time is lost at the different stations.
