COUNTY ELECTIONS.
CONTEST IN WIROKINO RIDING ACANCY IN TOKOMARU. HOSPITAL AND POWER BOARD REPRESENTATIVES REELECTED. Nominations of candidates for the triennial el action of the Horowhenua County Council and representatives of the County on the Horowhenua Electric Power Board and the Palmerston North Hospital Board closed at noon Wednesday, and elections will be held on "Wednesday, M&y Bth. The wbrmg members have been re-nommated m all cases, except in the Tokomaru riding, Mr H. Barber not being a candidate for the Council again. In the Otaki and Te Horo ridings the sitting councillors have been returned unopposed, but in the Wirokinc riding a contest is necessitated by ihe addition of Mr A. M. Colquhoun, of Tangimoana. The Tokomaru riding is left in a state of suspense, because only one nomination, that of Cr. J. R. Whyte, has been received, whereas there are two seats to be filled. Consequently an extraordinary vacancy has been created, to fill ; which nominations will have to be called, to be de'alt with subsequently. The existing representatives of the County on the Hospital Board and the Power "Board have been elected unopposed. Following is the list of candidates, 'jtogether with their nominators: —
