RUGBY FOOTBALL.
HOROWHENUA DISTRICT COUNCIL. At this week’s meeting of the Management Committee of the Horowhenus Rugby District Council there were present: Messrs W. Hannan (president), 8. Hooper, J. W. Procter, J. McGill, W, Phillips, M. G. McLean, W. Heyes, F, Robinson and J. Casey (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr J. W. Riminer (treasurer). PLAYERS’ QUALIFICATIONS.
Following upon the alteration of the by-laiws so as to class as a senior play er one, who has played more than twict in senior contests, a resolution , wai passed defining other grades as follows “A junior, third, fourth, fifth or sixtl grade nlayor is a player who hag no played more than twice in a competi tion or competitions higher than hii class, respectively.” PROUSE’S PADDOCK.
A letter was received from Mw Prouse, granting the use of the grounc in Cambridge Street for the season. It was decided to write thanking Mrs Prouse. ' #
CARNABY SHIELD.
The Manawhenua Union advised th( committee that the Dannevirke Sub Union had| forwarded the Carnal} Shield, won by Wanderers 111. in the seven-a-side tournament at Dannevirks last season.

Mr J. Linklater, M.P., one of the patrons, wrote wishing the Council fl successful season, and enclosing a dona tion of £1 Is.
The donation was received wit thanks.
SHANNON AND FOXTON GROUNDS • The Shannon Borough Council inti mated that the question of rental would receive further consideration.
The .communication was received. The Foxton delegates were empowered to make terms with the Foxtor Borough Council for the use of -s ground at Foxton. Mclennan cup.
[The sub-ecmmittee appointed to draw up rules for the MdLennan Cup submitted what they considered would be suitable rules for the competition. It was resolved that the draft rules be submitted to the donor, Mr W. McLennan, of Levin, and that if he gives his approval the first game for the eup, Weraroa v. Shannon, be played at Levin on Saturday, April 27th. In the event of the rules not receiving the approval of the donor, the sub-commit-tee was empowered to draw up a new set conforming to the wishes of the donor, such rules to be confirmed at .the next meeting of the management committee. OTAKI GROUND. Mr McGill was empowered to inform the Otaki Borough Council that the committee cannot offer more than 10 per cent, of the takings at the gate for rental of the Otaki Domain, and it was decided that, in the event of a greater eharge being asked for, it be suggested that the use of the ground \be granted free of eharge and the ißugby Council make no charge at the gate.
