CHURCH CHAINED DOWN IN NORTHERN NORWAY
SEVERITY OF STORMS. OSLO, March. 29. One of the most weather-beaten places in Norway is Gimoy, in northern Norway. The place faces the Northern Atlantic, where storms are so violent that the houses are often blown down if their construction is too slight. Gimoy has now got a new church, and to prevent the storms from blowing it away it has been attached to the rocks with, heavy chains. .This precaution was taken because the last church disappeared during a gale. The minister had been visiting some inhabitants on a neighbouring island, and when he returned after the storm had abated, he saw the spire of his church drifting in the sea.
