TENDERS OPENED FOR BUILDING, ENGINEERING AND ELECTRICAL

INSTALLATION.

Tenders.for the erection'and equipment of the Levin municipal abattoir were opened at the meeting of the Borough Council, last evening. The building tenders comprised nine, not twelve as previously stated, as it was found that three of them which had been endorsed by the tenderers "Building" had reference either to machinery or electrical installation. Five firms tendered for the machinery, and six for the electric equipment. was decided that the two lowest tenderers for the building be asked to submit alternative prices for roofing in fibrollte instead of iron, also for the substitution of heart rimu for o.b. rimu in the whole of the roof of the main building. The engineering and electrical tenders, which include a number of alternative and conditional offers of highly technical nature, are to be forwarded to the architect, Mr C. Lambeth, of Hamilton, for consideration. (Subsequently Mr..Lambeth: is to visit . Levin and confer with the

Abattoirs Committee, to whom the ' whole of the tenders are referred, and thereafter they will.come before a special meeting of the Council. Pending the acceptance of tenders, particulars are uot available for publication.
