SHANNON ATHLETIC CLUB.
■A meeting of members of the Shannon Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held on Friday evening, Mr R. Downes presiding. The balance sheet of the xecent sports fixture showed a slight loss, bmt considering the unsettled state.of the weather in the morning, the Club consider themselves fortunate thee loss was not a big one. The question of tar-sealing the cycle track at the Domain was discussed. It was decided that a committee consisting of the President, Secretary, Treasurer and Messrs Curran and Christian be set up to consider ways and Tneaus and the best methods of tar-sealing the track in twelve months' time. With a view to keeping the track in order in the meantime it was deci'ded to obtain, a supply of weed killer and arrange for a working bee of members to spray the tra'ck. It was also resolved to trv and obtain a quantity of waste oil from one of the garages, which will be used after the weed killer has been sprayed on. It was resolved to write to the Borough Council asking for the sole use of the centre room at the Pavilion for the purpose of storing the Club's property. Also that if permission is granted that on no account will the key be handed to others. A letter is to be forwarded to Mr G. Watson, of Levin, the Club's handieap-per-and starter, conveying the Club's appreciation of his services and congratulating him on his splendid handicapping.
