ST. PATRICK'S BALL.
A POPULAR JUNCTION.
The annuual grand St. Patrick's Ball which is one of the most popular functions of its kind held in the district, took place last evening in the Druids' Hall, when the hall was well filled, many visitors being present from the njig'.ibourirg townships. The interior of the hall and supper rooms were decorated with yellow, black and green streamers, greenery and hydrangeas, which together with the many coloured frocks worn by the ladies, presented a gay effect. The floor- was in splendid order and together with the fine mutie supplied by an orchestra of five players from Levin, added much towards malting the Ball a pronounced success. The duties of master of ceremonies was in the capable hands of Mr J. T. Bovis, who spared no, pains- to see that everyone enjoyed themselves. The supper arrangements were carried out by a ladies' commtttee, who had prepared aft excellent sit down supper, which was done full justice to. Extras were played by Mrs Parcell and Messrs W. Nicolls and J. < Prentice. The following are a few of the frocks worn by the ladies that we noticed:—The Mayoress (Mrs E. Butt), maple brown marocain and lace; Mrs T. Moynihan, blue embossed crepe de chine with lace godets; Mrs J. Curran, saxe blue and crepe Margaret; Mrs-Stern, black silk and lace; Mrs Thurston, apricot georgette and satin; Mrs Hennessey, cream georgette over satin; Mrs Bovis, tomato crepe de chine and lace; Mrs Conchie, fawn silk and lace; Mrs o'Driscoll, black satin and gold lace; Mrs F. Janiieson, red taffeta; Mrs B. Tayler, white ninon, blue stencilling; Mrs N. Gunning, sen green crepe de chine end gold lace; Mrs Mason, black and green taffeta, silver overskirt; Mrs Campbell, powder blue georgette; Mrs Cole, black and velvet taffeta; Mrs Pat Cole, black georgette, red shoulder posy; Mrs Lloyd (Palmerston North),-blue crepe de chine; Mrs Parcell, jade crepe de ehene with gold lace; Mrs Hudson, pastel hand painted; Mrs Todd, emerald green crepe de chine; Mrs O'Brien, apricot ninon with spray of roses; Miss Blackwood, pale green crepe de chene; Miss E Roach, cyclamen taffeta with embroidered medallions; Miss M. Curran, red tomato georgette; Miss Goodwin, pale blue silk and laee; Mis 3 Butt, black silk with pink shoulder flower; Miss M. Butler, s,ky blue crepe de chine and tulle; Mis».
