WELLINGTON LICENSING BENCH
The quarterly meeting of the Wellington Licensing Bench was held on Monday. The acting-chairman intimated that the police report stated that, w-ith two exceptions, the conduct of the hotels in the Wellington area had been satis factory. Two licensees had been fined for after-hour tralding, and it was hoped that this would serve as a warning to others. ' . Mr. Petherick stated that the police report referred to the number of women found in one of the hotels, there being no less than twelve there on one occasion. The licensee v/as advised that while this practice of serving women was within the law r , it was looked on with disfavour. . The admonition was endorsed by the Licensing Bench. Transfers of Licenses. The transfer of the license of the Tramway Hotel, from F. E. McParland to C. J. McParland, -was granted, as was also that of the Albert Hotel, from B. J. Kelleher to C. E. Faulkner. A temporary transfer of. the license of the City Hotel from G. J. Young to A. Brown was also granted.
