BECOMING A SCANDAL.
PALMERSTON N. WATER SUPPLY. A mention of Palmerston North's, insufficient water reticulation at Tuesday meeting of the Palmerston No.rth Chamber of Commerce, brought from Mr. R. A. Puller a condemnation ,o*f the : whcile' system foliow-'r ed-by the remark that the present state of affairs was a “scandal.” “It is becoming a scandal that a town like Palmerston North should not have a proper water supply. I have just returned from Melbburne where they had not had rain for months yet, every garden had three or four sprinklers. Now here in Palmerston North I find we have had rain but the use of hoses is restricted,” commented Mr.< Fuller. The chairman, Mr. M. A. stated that the Chamber had consistently supported the Borough Council in its efforts to provide an adequate reticulation. Mr. P. Grant: Sir, I do not thin); that there is sufficient water at Tiritea to supply a big town. We will have to go to* the Pohangina. Mr. Fuller, on the suggestion of the chairman, then advanced the .following motion which was carried unanimously: “This annual meeting of the Pal merston North Chamber of Commerce urges upon the Borough Council that i: should do all in its power, to provide n sufficient water - supply for the. town and further recommends to the incoming council of the Chamber that it should do everything possible .-to assist the Borough Council towards thi3 end. ’ ’
