The ’Schools in the Wellington Education Board’s district will re-open again on Monday.

The friends of Mrs T. King, who is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, will be pleased to hear that she is progressing satisfactorily.

Before Mr J. L. Stout, 'S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Palmerston North on Tuesda}' C. Taylor and Co., cabinet makers of Palmerston North (Mr McGregor), proceeded against A. E. Hyde, of Shannon (Mr Moody), to recover the sum of £49 Cs 6d for furniture 'supplied. The defence was that the goods had been ordered by defendant for another man, who was the principal in the purchase, defendant merely being an agent and not responsible for the account. This fact, defendant stated in evidence, had been made clear to Taylor and Co. After legal argument had been heard, His Worship held that defendant was the principal and not the agent, as had been suggested. The other man had not been introduced to Taylor and Co. and defendant must be held as having been the purchaser. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs totalling £6 3s, in addition to 12s, witness’s expenses.

Mr B. M. Kibblewhite, M.A., formerly of Levin, and late headmaster of Carterton-Wairarapa District High School, has oeen appointed headmaster of the District High School, T’aifyap.e.
