NEW PARIS FASHIONS.
NEGROID INSPIRATION. (Sun Special.) LONDON, Jan. 29. .Vivid colours, feathers, woodeu “jewellery,” and abundant frills for trimmings are the most striking features of the forthcoming Parisian summer creations, says the “Daily News” correspondent. Many designers are drawing largely upon African native costumes for inspiration, in consonance with modern negroid music and dancing. The barbaric note is chiefly struck in hues, which are notably red and green, and in the fabrics as well as in real and imitation jewellery in bright colours. Bold designs are indispensable for up-to-date frocks, notably slave bangles, and anklets, decorated with iubie3, emeralds and sapphires. Other models include geometricallyshaped beads in walnut and ebony. Summer bats are mostly trimmed with feathers. Some feathers are small, others are thrust through the brim to follow the curve of the neck, or to wave jauntily. The latest coiffure, due to designers ’ visits- to Africa, is modelled on a tribe wearing their ancestors’ hair in a bag tied to the back of the head, from where a feather curls forward.
