JANUARY ADVANCES

Dairy Factory Pay-Outs

Very satisfactory advances by the various dairy companies operating around Palmerston North are again to bo made on January 20. The butter market at Home continues firm with a rising tendency—-a very cheerful outlook for the dairy farmer. The forward position is described as very sound and exporters may expect a firm market until the European production commences. Forward offers in the region of lsl 6d have been received but very little butter is being sold at that figure as the majority of factories have already disposed of their available surplus.

As regards cheese, the position n not so bright The market remains firm at about 95c but no great increase is io be expected in the future. Production continues to be wonderful and a continuance of humid conditions will see a record established. There appears to be a super-abundance of feed everywhere.

Another relatively large shipment of Auckland butter for Canada, Honolulu and the East was taken by the Aorangi which sailed for Vancouver yesterday. The total shipment is 26,3*i8 : boxes. The Aorangi’s last cargo comprised 29,305 boxes, while in December the Niagara took 27,711 boxes for similar destinations.
