RAMS SELL WELL AT FEILDING STUD SALE

305 Guineas Top Price

There was a large attendance of sheep breeders from all parts of New Zealand and overseas at the Wellington and West Coast stud sheep sale held on the Feilding showgrounds yesterday.

From the outset il; was obvious that good sheep were going to sell, there being spirited bidding for all outstanding ranis with a steady demand for good serviceable lots. For the less aristocratic there was no competition. Of the 219 lots of rams offered 61 sold under the hammer while a large number which failed to reach vendors’ reserves in the ring changed hands by private treaty later. The best price of the day was paid by Mr. R. Tanner of Longburn for a hogget from the stud of 'Mr. A. L. Wheelor, Marton. Competition for, this rum was very keen. Those competent to speak agreed that the animal was one of the best put forward, being wonderfully put together, very square and standing correctly on his legs, also excellently woolled. Mr. W. H. Gibson, who was outbid for this ram, showed his confidence in its sire by paying substantial figures for twing also his progeny. Sheep carrying the fashionable Parorangi blood were in consistent demand ar.d younger breeders who have used these sires were rewarded. There was no demand at all for ewes, all lots offerid being passed. Romneys occupied •''livers’ attention all day.
